has anyone had an issue with the power steering pully squeaking when its cold out or when its raining? ive got an 03 SE and it is the most annoying thing ever, just curious if anyone else has had this issue and has found a way to remedy it without replacing the pully, or whole pump if the pully and pump are one unit.

Whenever I've had a squeaky belt, just tightening the idler pulley took the squeak away.

Usually you first notice the squeak when it's cold, which would explain why you hear it when it's cold out. Why it squeaks for you when it's raining, no idea.

ive replaced my belts so that possible cause of my prob isnt a factor, and i know they are tentioned correctly. it is deff my power steering pully, ive sat there while its squeaking and sprayed wd40 on it and the squeak stopped. but it continues to come back. idk if its the berrings within the pully and i just have to replace it, but it seems like everything i have to replace for my pathy happens to be an expensive part. lol but i guess thats the way life works right.

yuou always need to retension new belts, several months after install, cause they stretch. WD40 just masks the noise but does not solve the problem - its still slipping, only quietly. In fact, a lot of car gurus say that WD40 is terrible on belts and will make the squeak come back louder AND will shorten the life of belts.

according to the FSM the pulley can be replaced. I have never had this issue, but maybe the power steering pump oil seal has dry rotted?

ya maybe the seal is rotted, but im not loosing any power steerinfg fluid. and i know about how wd40mis bad for the belts, but i dont spray in on the belt, i spray it on the face of the fully where it connects to the shaft for the pump, and i ensure none gets onto the belt, ive retentioned these belts since they were replaced. its like a random annoyance, sometimes its not there for weeks, then pops up, then goes away again. its like a gremlin.....i hate gremlins. lol

Check your harmonic balancer. I had the same issue for the longest time. Now everything is back to normal.
