I think drone warfare is acceptable, especially to the extent it reduces our own loss of troops. But it appears the technology needs tweaking to better target only what we want to target.....I'm assuming we don't want to target that sweet little girl.....
Again, I love Through the Wormhole. They were talking about "insta-training" technology on one episode, and they spotlighted research in how drone target selection personnel are trained to spot qualifying targets, and differentiating them from civilian targets. Hell all I saw on the screens they watch were random blips of pixels. They can't have AI do this job because whatever pixelated differences there are are so subtle and minute that only a human can make the call with any repeatable accuracy. But even still, the system is ripe with opportunities for error. Again I like the idea of hands off warfare, and its most undoubtably the future of warfare, but until we can better pinpoint what is hostile and what is not, mayhaps we should roll back a bit, especially when we place them in our own airspace.
