So my springs came in yesterday and I was super excited until I started calling around for installation prices. After about 7 quotes in the $350 range (w/o an alignment) I got kind of frustrated. Maybe I should have checked this before buying but that group buy sucked me in. Seems like there are people out there getting this done in the $100s.

I've never really been in to this kind of modding before, so maybe I just don't know the shops to call. Anyone one in Dallas have a good shop they can refer me to? Or better yet - anyone with a spring compressor??

Any advice or info would be appreciated. I was hoping to get this done Saturday after my first service - it was gonna be a big day for my car

Yeah, I'm just kind of trying to get a feel for what others in the area are going to be paying. $400+ for an install and alignment seems a little on the hefty side for a $200 product. If that's the trend in DFW, though, I might have to pony up.

I can't imagine the self install being that difficult. Is there something I'm missing? The instruction sheet that came with the springs is, well, limited at best.

Reputable rim shops do installs quite often where I live. I would try them before your normal suspension shops. Another good idea would be to ask your local performance shop if they do it or where they would recommend. I had mine installed for $150. It took the rim shop about 1.5 hrs.Hope this helps

Personally, I'm going to install my own, it's not that hard, just need the time to do the job correctly.

Alignment will be with a shop no matter what.

I have one source for the possible outsorcing of the install, will get an estimate and get back to you all.

Does that go for all of us

I would prefer to have it done somewhere rather than attempting myself, but not at such a steep price. I could only imagine getting the wheels and springs off and then being like "now what?" and having to tow it somewhere with a trunk full of parts

No worries ... I do appreciate the effort. I found one option for $100 but it would mean driving to waco and having my friends little kid brother do it. He works at a shop with lift and spring compressor and all, but that almost sounds like more work than swiping the debit card for $200 more dollars.

Anyone in the area find out any better shops to get these installed at? Or are you guys doing a self-install?

Contacting my normal guy today, going to see if we all go in to do the spring with him together if we can get sort of a small group discount. He's located in Carrollton/Farmers Branch are so it shouldn't be too have for any of the three of us.

Anybody else interested?

I checked the susp set up these things and they are fairly easy If my memory serves me right 1)the rear is 2 bolts that release the arm and swing down releasing the springs. 2) the front is also 2 bolts plus the three at the top of the strut remove the spring with a compressor reinstall.

Does that sound accurate????

Yup, you're essentially correct:

Front: 3 Top, 2 Bottom for attachement, 1 master Bolt to release the spring on the strut.

Rear: Not sure oin the number of bolts, didn't look, but it's an A-Arm type assembly, so only the upper bolts need to be released and the spring will pop or fall out.

OK, complete wipe out on my normal installers, they both are out of the park for what's reasonable and didn't want to budge, even when I offered them a 3 car deal.

I'm going the personal install route, if you guys want to get together and work as a team, we could do all three toghether, i'll volunteer to go first so you are safe from any Guinea Pig events. But, like I said, before, have done this before, it's not that hard, it's just on a different make and model of car.

Going to go rent a compressor just in case from Autozone or O'Riely, going to install tomorrow. if you want to get together send me an e-laim thorough NICO or respond to this thread.

I guess you've got to live on the coast to get a good install deal.

I would definitely be down for getting together tomorrow and doing the install. I've got an auto service @ 8am and am good to go when that's all finished. I'm capable enough, just slightly hesitant having not done it before (i.e. trimming the bump stop?). Would be good to get together with others.

Anyway, let me know if it's a go for sure and we can work out details. Hooray Springs!

Hey Guitarist,

Just sent you an e-mail with my mobile number, i'll be getting started jacking my car in the morning around 8 or so, then removing wheels, etc.

Give me a call and we can coordinate. Hopefully the stars will align so you can see the entire process and maybe even get your's installed also.

Thoughts?-- Wind

Hey Guitarist982,

Post the hid-like bulbs you used for the fogs on your car, they were wicked.

Hey Wind-

They're the Hoen Xenonmatch H11 bulbs. What's great is that they're factory wattage but put out around 4,000K light. I think the factory HID is approx. 4,300K. So for $30 you can get a pretty close match w/o having to go HID on the fogs. Just a direct swap.

http://www.hoen-usa.com/fog.htm

I don't have any pics, but there's a gallery of other cars on their website. They also have the license plate bulbs but I wasn't sure I wanted to swap those ($12 for a pair ~4200K for anyone interested).
