I've done some searching, but this question in particular hasn't even been answered or asked straight on.

What is the viability of running a CA daily? Driving around ~60 miles / day?

Keep in mind all normal maitenance done, what would I have to worry about? What kind of spare parts would be a good idea to keep on-hand?

i got thru 2 tanks of gas a week, which normally range from 400-500km (250-300miles/tank). it runs great, just make sure you try to check the oil and other fluid levels often enough that your motor stays healthy. 7000km later and my motor still runs great. It still is a nissan motor, it should go for just as long as any KA/VG/etc.

That's what I thought (and hoped) just wanted some confirmation.

Thanks.

What about start ups? Any issue with temperature or stuff like that?

Mine has problems with cold start. Not meaning problems starting when the outside temps are low, but when the motor is cold. Give it a little gas and it is all good. Apparently, this is a common malady for CA owners. I drive mine all the damn time here in the good ol Texas heat with no problems.

Ya, these engines are pretty dam good for driving daily, just don't go over 120km/hr otherwise gas will be a killer, get yourself an extra ignitor and couple coils and you should be good.

That's what I thought. Just keep it under 3k in 5th and I should be good to go.

mine starts right up every time, cold or hot. cold, it might take a second or 2 at most to start, but warm, i barely blip the key and its already running. people are often amazed by how quick it starts. unfortunately, i often don't have time to let it warm up before driving, so i just go easy until it is warm, but i've never experienced any stumbling or rough idle or anything.

Well you can go about 60Mph = 100km/hr and still get respectable gas milage, but these 4 bangers when you take them passed the 120km/hr they will start sucking gas like V8 lol, so, ya, keep it under 4Krpm and you should be ok regarding the gas milage.

What happened? Haha..

The car i'm looking at buying starts immediately, and when the vaccuum leak is fixed it should idle perfectly.

No idea. No vac leak, new plugs, etc. I *think* my issue is now a jacked up O2 sensor and/or air regulator. We shall see this weekend...

What about your AFM? When my mom's max was doing crazy **** I found out it was the AFM and had to replace it, ran excellent after that.

O2 sensor could also be the issue too.

I cleaned the MAF and since I am not getting any codes for it and it revvs past 2500RPM, I am pretty sure it is fine. Once the car is warm, all is golden (except for a slight stumble at WOT, hence the O2 sensor issue)

Well, I figure I may have met you before.

I remember a previous sig of yours (I think) that was a silver e46.

I have a gold e36 325. My name's Caine.

I live in Flower Mound, but get all around DFW.

I'm right off 635 and plano rd; right now my dying KA24E pings over 2k RPM unless I'm WOT (then it can reach a little past 3k w/o pinging), which makes driving on the highway quite troublesome :D
