Please check the ultimate sticky, good info there first. Vehicle condition and where you live answer that question. If you looking at a beat up, not very maintained 200K beat to death car and its rains and snows all the time.... NO

Depends on the car, just take it have it put on a lift and checked out for issues, ask to check compression, check vehicle history. They are not bad cars as long as its not beat to death.

Yeah.
I bought mine with about 160k on the clock and turbocharged it, and still running good at 170k.

As long as you buy one in good condition, they should last a long while.

I had one with over 300k on original drivetrain. Biggest problem was rust (Hawaii is evil to cars). I've also had one with 170k on the motor that was a piece of s*** that was constantly in a state of repair. Depends on the condition, but if taken care of they can last forever. And ditto what OutToWinPAHC said. Take it to a shop and get it checked out before you buy if your not sure what to look for. Also check this thread for a buying guide/things to look for when buying. the-240sx-info-introduction-faq-thread- ... 83490.html

240k is when my odometer died... Find a buddy that knows these cars, it's easy to spot problems in these cars if you own one. =P

Also, another thing to note: Everything on my car that has ever broken down is due to my error.

Take to a shop, have them put it on a lift and check the nickle and dimers.... suspension and steering (cost 25 at a firestone), then check the fluids, and check compression, listen for noises, and don't trust anything they say unless there is paperwork to prove it.

Find out what the condition of spark plugs can tell you. Check fluids. Bring tools and towels out there to check all of that stuff. Ask more questions then you ever really need too. Try everything in the car. Heating/AC, power anything, open and close every compartment, Check tire condition and wear, check interior panels, if its auto put the shifter in every position and drive it. Drive with the radio off, listening and feeling for noise and vibrations, wind from worn seals, etc.

If it is not being sold as a perfectly fine running vehicle, its on you or you can leave it alone.

All of mine had issues when I bought them, so I got them dirt cheap, but some members on here have gotten perfect cars in the same manner, don't rush.
