Okay, lately more have been considering the T25 KA-T, and structure240sx keeps mentioning that he would be jealous of an s15 turbo ka-t for a daily driver. This got me wondering...assuming no built block, just a basic bolt on turbo KA-what would you prefer for the conditions i mentioned in the title, and why?1. T3/T4 50 trim .63 AR (basically the standard favorite KA turbo), external wastegate dump 2. S15 T28 (GT28R i believe?)All else would be equal pretty much:jwt ecu, 50 lb injectors, z32 mafs, fmic, s13 cams (i have an s14 ka), recirc bov..the s15 turbo costs a little more, but since the SSA t25 mani is supposed to be pretty good, i could use that and save some money over a good t3 flanged mani, and avoid the need for a wastegate since its internal, so I'm pretty sure the costs of the two setups would be similar. I would probably want to make about 280 whp with this setup on a daily basis, maybe turn it up around 300 on rare occasions, but not much more. I'm aware that the T3/T4 can make a lot more power than this, but i don't want to risk it with stock block. Any thoughts on which would be a more fun/worthwhile setup for city driving, autoX, and hitting the mountain roads occasionally?

well yea, the S15 turbo would get you a good powerband and possibly 300 rwhp depending on how much boost u run.

i would say get that or possibly run a t3/t04e with .48 ar turbine and you'll have quite a powerband.

consider that w/ a t3 flanged manifold you have more options if you want to upgrade later. You could also consider an rb25det turbo, it's t3 flanged.

Would he be able to get that much power with the internal wastegate, or would it have to be welded shut and replaced with an external unit?

well, sorta new plan...adding up all the costs for this has shown me that it will be quite a while til i can be boosting, so i think in the meantime im gonna do a basic setup a la orion-hacked MAFS, sr injectors, no intercooler, like 5 psi, retard stock timing a few degrees, and go with the t3/t4 50 trim. That way i can get a nice power boost for the meantime, and then when i get some more money i can get a FMIC, JWT ECU w/ 50 lb and z32 mafs, etc.

could do it with internal wastegate and boost controller.

sounds good but you are gonna have to retard your timing more than a few degrees for your motor to survive. the stock ka timing map is too aggressive. you need more like 6-7 degrees retard but offsetting it that much overall through adj. the distributor would make your driveability suck. dont cut corners, its not worth it.

really, retard 6-7 degrees for like 5 psi? im seriously gonna stick with really low boost till i can get a better fuel setup and intercool it. I just figure this is a good way to grab an extra 80 whp instead of just waiting and saving up.
