I recently purchased a 1993 D21 4x4. Actually the title says it is a 1993.5. I am looking to replace the rusty bed. I found one off of a 1996 (not sure if it was a 4x4 or not) will this be a direct bolt up replacement? If not can anyone tell me what years would work and if the 4x4 and 2wd are the same.

Thanks in advance.

Nissan built 3 different beds for the D21 series trucks.

Long BedKing CabRegular Bed

A 4x4 Regular bed is the same as a 4x2 Regular bed and so on.

A regular bed from 1986 is the same as one from 1997. Same for the Long Bed and the King Cab Bed.

Because of the different bed lengths they will not swap over without a little frame/mount work. But if you swap, say, long bed for long bed, for example, it will work no problem. Same for King Cab bed to king cab bed. A regular bed is a regular bed no matter what year D21.

Hope that helps and makes sense.

The rev is right. Std cab regular beds are about 3" longer than a king cab bed. If you use a king cab bed on a std cab truck, you'll have a big gap between the cab and bed.

So, as long as it comes from the same cab configuration, you're set.

They did make a few long beds on regular cabs. This is a 7' bed vs. the normal 6 footer. Don't confuse the two. The long beds are pretty rare though.

I found that out the hard way.I paid for a bed, removed mine and drove to get it.It was a long bed and I needed a reg cab bed.Too bad, it was a real nice bed with no rust.If anyone is close by and needs it, let me know.I never knew the king cab bed was different either. Thanks for the info.

Now my favorite salvage yard has a 95 king cab with a good bed.Per the shop manual, all the bed to frame mounts are in the same location.I may have to see how it fits just for kicks.

Hey I need that long bed you got. Do you still have it? My email is [email protected] I'm gonna stretch my frame out on my Hardbody. It's a '93 on airbags, and will be body dropped later this year. I just want to do something a little bit different and get a little more magazine coverage. Thanks!

When in doubt measure the thing, from end to end and from mount point to mount point. That never fails. measure over all length mount point to mount point and from back of bed to first mount point and from front of bed to first mount point. That is all you need to know to be sure it will fit mounts and go all the way to cab and all the way to the rear of the truvck properly.

not sure what you're trying to ask there. The truck beds are the same - 4x4 or 4x2. some of the 4x4s had add on plastic flares for better tire coverage.

Pathfinder fenders are flared out more than truck fenders are, as are the rear quarters. I do know a guy that worked some pathy rear quarters into a HB bed. Lots of body work there.

That's what I was looking for, the pathfinder fenders are a little wider your basically saying, I need them to clear 18s with a 6 in drop in the rear notched frame

So I'm wanting to use a rust free regular cab bed on a king cab truck and from info here says reg cab bed is 3" longer correct?? from pictures I'm looking at it seems to be the other way around...I'm assuming that would mean mounts on frame must be relocated?? I'm planning on no rear bumper on this build...anyone got a reg cab short bed that can get me some easy measurements?

Your problem will be that the bed is too long ahead of the wheel opening if the bed is from an RC and you're trying to put it on a KC. Moving mounts doesn't fix that.

true desert rat but will i be adding or subtracting 3" from the frame??? ive been carrying a tape measure around for 3 weeks now trying to find a reg cab short bed in my area and just havent seen one...bed I'm planning to buy while exceptional is over 2 hours away...just trying to get a smooth plan of attack...would love to get just 2 measurements from a reg cab...length inside bed from headboard to gate and length of the quarter from front to wheel opening....hell we might not cut the frame and may just move the headboard back???

the KC bed is shorter than the reg cab bed. The difference in length is in front of the rear wheels. So you can put a KC cab on a RC truck with a big gap between the cab and bed, but if you put an RC bed on a KC cab, the rear wheels will be too far forward for it to look right and they may even hit the bedsides.
