I was just wondering. Dont have alot of cash and want to get a decent suspension set up. Wondering if any of you out there have the D2's or the K-Sports and how you like them. Also wondering if some of you had them at one point, and got rid of them for some reason. Why also, are the K-Sports cheaper than the D2 when theyre almost identical aside fromt he paint?

Really interested to know this because I will be purchasing suspension very soon. Someone told me they had the D2's and they didnt like them too much because the wheels would hop too much in a drift. Also, he complained about the spring rate and the shock stiffness and how he couldnt get them to work well together. Anyone know if the hopping during the drift could be corrected by some other suspension mod? All thoughts welcome.

A friend of mine has d2's on his s14 and he let me drift his car.....the suspension SETUP was soooooo nice.

Its not about the company its about the setup

by setup are you talking about the coilovers only? Like the height, shock stiffness, camber angle etc? or are you talking about other aftermarket parts BESIDES the coilovers themselves?

Riding in cars with different suspensions, i can tell you a few things.

Tanabe DD's are the best thing that have ever happened to anyone who wants to drive to the track, drift or grip their d!ck off, and drive home. Every other coilover i have driven on has been severly over dampened. Tein's, JIC, KSport, D2, HKS, and whatever else...they all seem to try and control roll center and moment of inertia thru their dampening, and it doesnt work. Of everything though, KSport is the best bang for the buck...

If you want some detailed info, feel free to PM or IM me.

i drift, autox, and dd with k sport. no problems that i can tell. i also never tried other coilovers though. im using 7 5 spring rate with a harder dampening in the rear. also using j30 vlsd.

ive had my 7/5 d2s on my 240 for exactly one year with zero problems. ive driven my car every day with them since ive had them on. i auto-x my car on a regular basis and they do pretty decent. i have drifted on them a few times and my car was very responsive and predictable. not to mention very easy to handle. theyre totally awesome for spirited driving. wait, they do sqeak like a mofo though. ive been very pleased with them since i recieved the package from the man in the big brown truck.

Thats all I was really lookin for. As I am an amateur drifter, I dont need anywhere near the best set up. Im just lookin to get my car in the correct stance to where I CAN drift. Just making sure they werent cheap pieces of crap that leak or break easily or anything. BTW, whats the max lowering on those K-Sports?

not really sure but at least 2". i can slam it if i really wanted to. if your tight on money, a good spring and strut combo is nice. can get them used pretty damn cheap too.

Well damn, if I can get a set of coilovers for around 800 bucks, I think itd be in my bets interest to opt for that.

yeah i've got plenty of room to lower more.. dampeners seem to do well.. i also have mine slightly stiffer in the back.. but i got the first batch of k sports in the states so i got 9 kg springs so i run 9 front 7 rear.. good part i think..dont get expensive **** till someone else buys it for you ...thats how i think

one thing to add. if you drive your car alot on the streets, i would def go for the 5/3 rates. i wish i wouldve, but the 7/5 isnt too bad. its nice when youre just cruising on a good road, but once you start hitting the not so perfect roads thats when it gets kinda rough. youll still be able to drift with the 5/3 too, but with less of a harsh ride.

7/5 seems a bit soft to me. especially for drifting.

im running a 10/8 on my drift car. but i sure as hell dont drive it everyday.

i think if you really want coils for drifting (since this is the drifting forum) then i suggest you just get a higher spring rate set of coils for when you go out drifting. just switch'em out the day before :P

keep it on the track. theres no need to die when yer just trying to have fun

I'm running on the D2 w/ 8kg. Ft and 6kg. Rr w/ the dampers maxed out, it rides fine except for the rough spots but their are still too soft for me for daily driving. I regret not going w/ 10kg Ft and 8kg Rr. But I love to drive hard every day so it's up to you on your liking. Other peeps says it's too harsh but not to my opinion.

the wheel hop during drifting is most likely worn subframe bushings, probably not the coilover. Sounds like k-sport would be fine for you. Im gonna go with Tanabe DD's or the spl/kts' when im ready to buy a new set of coilovers.
