Hey ya'll --

just finished the D2 RS coilover install. Literally took all day, but then again I have never done something like this before. Just want to say thanks to all (especially Alex M) for all the knowledge that is shared here, couldn't have done it without you guys. Here are a few iphone pics, will post better when I get some nicer wheels.

Quick question also -- on some turns it sounds really creaky, is this pretty standard? I also didn't realize how bumpy the new ride would feel. Also, how much additional drop can I expect when it "settles"? I really don't want it to go lower than it is -- already scraping out on small driveways.

Nice... and as for the creaking, im hearing it on my lowering springs as it is... Not too sure about coil overs. If youre concerned, raise it 1 click or 2.

I lalalalalalove the color of ya fudgin car! Wish the dealership had blue when I bought mine...then again...I'm under the radar compared to you I bet... The wheels have got to go asap and you need some tire shine. I'm imagining some 19in black concave or dish wheels with some tire shine, maybe a chrome delete as well :D

P.S. EVERYONE IS GETTING COILOVERS!!!!!!!!!!

You have to adjust your preload, might have to take it to a professional shop if you want to lose the cracking noise..

Had the same problem with BC's.

I didn't help you too much lol. Some people experience the creaking and others don't. You're supposed to be able to increase your preload to reduce / eliminate the sound. Others have had success with this and others (like me) haven't. And just play with the dampening settings to get the ride as close to how you like it. The first time I drove my car after getting coils, my first thoughts were, "idk if I can go through with this everyday" lol. But you'll get used to it. The bumpiness and the creaking aren't related though.

It looks great though! The stance looks like exactly what you were aiming for. No tire tucking and no horrendous wheel gap. The springs won't settle noticeably more but after you get your alignment you may have to run negative camber in the rear. If it's too negative for your liking then you can:

a) look into an Eibach camber kit
b) raise the car a bit

Yeah my ksports Don't no noise at all... Mess with the dampening settIngs cause they shouldn't be Making noise. Especially cause d2 are true coilovers like Ksport. So just mess with the settings

As far as what I'd be looking for, that's perfect. Car looks great man. Love the nervously excessive distance from the parking block thing haha.

That's what I'm thinking man. You can SLAM K-Sports. But the D2's look good too. And they're purple.

thanks for the compliments bros -- and it is actually the regular metallic blue.

On a side note, I found out what is causing the creaking/knocking noise -- I did not secure the endlink down and it is rotating freely behind the wheel hub, knocking against the strut assembly. The D2 kit I have did not come with the adjustable endlinks, how do I ensure that this is secured tightly? I noticed that I ran into this issue when I was adjusting height, because the lower I dropped the height, the higher the lower mount moved, and the less I could adjust the height of the end link. I didn't realize that it should be completely stationary, I thought that it was supposed to be freely movable so it did not bear tension.

Any thoughts? Thanks, SVT

Tighten it. Check for the specific torque.
Also, please do not drop your car any lower as it sits perfectly with the stockies.
If you do it'll look like this :inout:

When you jack up your car can you freely move the end link? I wonder if thats what's happening to everyone that has popping noises. Does your noise occur when you turn the steering wheel?

I'm glad I am not the only one that thinks this. Everyday I try to convince my gf to raise her car just a bit so her tires are untucked since she's on stocks lol. Looks juvenile imo

Just want to give an update -- I tightened the endlinks, knocking/creaking sounds are gone! Thank God!
