From what I've heard, the d2s aren't actually made for the coupes, so while you might get them to fit, they're not R&D'ed for the coupe, so that would be a risk.

Advance Speed Shop sells the Tein Basic Coilovers. They don't have adjustable dampening, but they're a good bang for the buck coilover. They're about $1000 new, and will allow you to drop the vehicle a good bit. If you want to step up, you have have 16-way adjustable dampening (softness or hardness of ride) with the Tein Super Street Coils, but they'll run you about $1500.

With suspension parts (or any car parts for that matter), it is important to remember this - cheap buys twice. Save up the money and get a good quality part for your car, or fixing the damage done by cheap parts will probably be more than the more expensive parts.

Also remember - GET AN ALIGNMENT after installing any springs/coilovers. Good luck.

It really depends on the price. If you are buying them new for $900-1000 hell!!!!! NOOOOOO!!!

I have D2 coils I bought for $500 and I would say they are worth what I bought them for. Thye dropped my car about 2.5in from stock and now my car sits 2.25" off the ground.

It looks really good however speed bumps, drive ways, and potholes are out of the question. I have bottomed out my car several times. Although it has not done any real damage to my car it sounds terrrrrrrible (Barkly voice)

They are very very very bouncy.

Most people will tell you to go with BC coils but honestly Im not sure if you will be able to tell the difference between D2 and BC. Im sure there is a difference the question is will you be able to feel it.

My thing is I know im going to have my AC for a long time so Id rather start out with D2 and upgrade to Tein coils later so I can really appreciate them. Cause im guessing that Tein coils are going to be just as bouncy and Im going to bottom out just as much.

So how much are you paying for the coils would be my question. Keep in mind install will be $250-500 not including aligment which you need as well... Also you a "Pit alignment" not all shops have that I went to 7 places to get my car aligned.

Tein SS coilovers are noticeably less bouncier than the BC BR Racing coilovers. Additionally they are quieter than the BC Racing. Tein for peace of mind.

Loop is probably the most knowledgeable member when it comes to suspension. I'm sure Tein is really good and I assure u I would not have spent $800-1000 on D2. I will eventually get Tein coils so it really depends on ur financial situation if u got $2k I'd do Tein. Where are u planning on getting coils.

Loop do u think there is a huge difference between the Tein basic and SS?

DReed - from what I've researched, the single difference between the basic and SS is the adjustable dampening feature (Basic doesn't have this - SS does). The spring rates and the height adjustment ranges are identical on the two. The adjustable dampening (16 way adjustable, btw) is nice, and you can add the EDFC controller to it later (electronically adjust the dampening from inside the car), which is super cool. But expensive. It's all in what you want to do.

Yeah that what I thought was the difference but do you think that that is worth the extra $400-500???

haha I'm actually weighing that now. only thing is - if you don't like how stiff/harsh the ride is with the Tein Basics, you're stuck with them. But for those of us that rocked springs for a while, I can't imagine the basics being worse. They're probably better. Less bouncy, etc.

For a car that is a daily driver but may see some track/autox time, the SSs are probably worth the money as you can dial them up for a road course, but make them milder so you don't rattle your teeth out of your head on the way home. I'm still undecided, but I want to do something soon. It's hard looking at my car at stock ride height again.

Dead Thread Revival! I will likely be installing Tein Basic coils soon, so I will be able to provide an update on the ride quality.

epic! keep us posted! I might still toss some coils on the Altima (yes, I have a Z and still want the Altima to not look 4X4).

Let me know how they go. I would rather just get these over springs since I would have control over ride height, especially if they ride decently enough to be tolerable on a daily driver.

I know if they ride nice enough on yours, they def would on mine as now that I have the Z I'm not really interested in swapping the stock wheels for aftermarket ones (unless of course AME wheels ever gets its crap together - I still want gunmetal FS-01 wheels).

Old thread bump but from what I've discovered, EDFC is not available for 07+ Altimas with the Tein Coilovers.

EDFC is not compatible with the Basics or Street Advance. It is compatible with the Super Streets, but I believe the Street Advance replaced these a few years ago.

I will need to make a note of this in the reworked aftermarket parts thing I'm working on. Good find guys!
