D2 coilover installation question

Hey Guys --

I had a quick question for those of you with the D2 RS coilover -- when you installed the rear assembly, did you remove the stock spring and just leave it empty? fully assembled D2 coiled spring-over-strut assembly? I assume you do not disassemble the coilover (ie remove the spring from the coiled spring-over-strut assembly to place it into the stock position) but simply remove the stock spring and leave nothing in its old place, right?

Help is greatly appreciated.
