*If you're a sensitive pet owner, don't read this thread*

So these same two dogs keep digging holes under my fence and keep making this hole in my fence bigger. Then, they dig in my yard, poop, etc... Today, I'm just burning some brush in my grill (can't just burn stuff on the ground in town) and I see those damn dogs running around in my yard! Pissed, I chase after these dogs, and scare them through the hole they made in my fence.

So this goes on to my ultimate question, they're not around long enough for animal control to be called and have them come get these dogs, so what about trapping/snaring them? I may have to call animal control and see what the laws are on that. That then leads to my next question, if animal control takes these dogs, don't they just eventually kill them?

Now on to my rant.
I hate a loose dog and I hate dogs that bark at me while I am in my own yard or jogging down the street. The owners need punched because they did not either pay attention or tend to their dog like they needed and let the dogs get loose, or, in case of the barking dogs, didn't train them like they should have been. If I hop the fence and go in the owner's/dog's yard, it should bark and bite me, else, it should be seen and not heard! However, I don't want to put all the blame on owners. Dogs are supposed to bark, it's in their nature, but if they can't be trained, they're worthless. Eliminate that set of genes from the gene pool.

When I was a little kid and the neighbor's dog bit me (nearly lost my eye and had well over 50 stitches), they put the dog down because they weren't gonna own a biting dog or have anyone else have to own a biting dog. That's a responsible pet owner!

My neighbor had a dog that would hop the fence all the time and scare children. He never hurt anyone outside the fence, but the last straw was when the dog bit the meter man's thumb so badly it almost was taken off. But they didn't put him down... Instead, they shipped him off to somewhere out in the country for a dog rehab thing. Apparently, some dogs just aren't made to be pent up. Sure, some are bad, but some are just stupid like that.

Owners must always be responsible. If you watch any few minutes of a animal cop show, they are always dealing with irresponsible people like this because of a call from animal control.

Almost every problem pet is the fault of a problem owner. I could walk both my dogs with no leashes because I had trained them to be controllable without a rope tied to them and they wouldn't go after people unless there was a legitimate threat.

My big dog once ran out of the house and I went after her because this was weird. Some ****nut was trying to take the cover off my car! She ran right up behind him and barked once inches from his a**. People can fly; he jumped two feet in the air. She didn't bite him, but she could have; she chose to just say "Get away from my daddy's car, chump!" Trained. Then he got to meet daddy. I'm not trained.

My little dog is sickeningly sweet and submissive and when he is walking with mom he gets scared when little kids run up to pet him; they are the out of control animals in my neighborhood. Let a legit threat like a sketchy person or a loose dog get too close to her and watch his nuts drop. She says he gets bigtime alpha male and makes it pretty clear he's going to bring the hurt if the threat gets any closer. Trained. He's chill when I'm around because he knows I'm the better predator. Not trained.

Talk to the owner about the problem and see if you are dealing with a person who might work to correct this situation or straight up tell them how it's going to go down if they don't.

The dogs owners have a legal responsibility to keep the dogs in their yard. If it's obvious where they're digging under your fence and in your yard, call animal control. The dog doesn't have to be in your yard for you to call them. Animal control will then take over and contact the dogs owner and tell them what the laws are and that they have to keep the dogs in the fence and what they can do to help that. (eg; putting the dog's poo in the hole they dig will deter them from continuing to dig in that hole. They may start a new hole, but if you keep doing it, eventually they'll stop digging holes).

The long and the short is that it's not your problem and that your tax dollars help to provide a service to deal with situations like this. Also, don't be afraid to keep calling over and over again. When animal control has to keep coming back to the same house for the same complaints over and over again, things tend to escalate and the issue gets dealt with quickly.

Orly?

I think I might know which neighbor it is because I saw him out one time walking around yelling for his dog. That said, just today I saw what may be their grand daughter arrive in a puke green mustang looking hot with some tig 'ol bitties! I might stop by one day when I see that mustang over there again. Hey, what were we talking about again?

Trapping/snaring animals will land you with a fine. So avoid that route.

People that don't control their animals suck. Animal control will engage with the proof of holes being dug and if you can point to the house that owns them. They won't be put down unless they attack someone. Worst case they'll be taken and put up for adoption, but that's only if the owner utterly refuses to keep them on his property.

Blame the owner not the animal, for the most part, dogs are better than people. I wouldn't be against snaring the owner! Some 550 cord works nicely for stupid people.

I remember another thread like this.... I think that OP brought up shooting the dogs or something obsurd...
Go address the owner, touching someone elses animal is like touching their kid and people will fume about it...

I am sure there are scents that dogs do not like, put it around your yard...

I might have made a thread on here about dogs. That was years ago. They kept getting in my trash years back so I was trying to find ways to prevent it. It ended up being a sour apple spray stuff.
