just bought a Nissan Murano, drove home and realized the user manual was not with the car and a questions araised ( been driving manuals for the last 22 years ) and first experience with an automatic car.

Why are there 2 "D" positions, on the far left and on the right? the far left seems the engine is more rough while when i selected the right position the engine was quiet and smooth?

i guess I will be asking a few more quesitons so in advance to all of you Thank YOU all!

Is it like these pictures?

D is for regular Drive. When you move it to the right it's in the "S" position which is either "Second Gear" or "Sports Mode" which puts you in a fixed gear vs. "D" which is the regular CVT that picks the gear ratio for you.

The link doesn't show up for me. Can you post a picture of your shifter?

You can use a photo upload website and then post the "[img] & [/img}" tags.
