Cylinder #1 is the front cylinder on the US passenger's side, #2 the one next to it on the driver's side, and so on.
Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.
Note that cylinders are normally numbered front to rear. On a V engine, the two cylinders of a pair will not be RIGHT next to each other. One will be a little behind the other because the con rod has about 5/8" of thickness.
Firing order can be anything, and in a 90 degree V8 there are several orders used. I know early 90s Corvettes used a couple of different firing orders. Dunno about V6s.
