Hi all, first time post, long time reader.

I got my hands on an '89 240sx that I'm currently rebuilding the stock KA. Anyways, my problem is disassembling the cylinder head from the intake manifold. I pulled cylinder head and intake manifold together. Now that they are out I cannot for the life of me separate the two parts. I've removed all the nuts and bolts. The parts are loose enough that I can wiggle them and can see right between the head and intake mani yet the will not separate. I even removed one of the studs on the head as I read on another post but no success.

Any tips suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks

Big effing hammer. Just make sure there are no more bolts it sounds like its just stuck at the gasket.

I feel so OWNED by this its embarrassing. The thing is both parts are so loose that if shake them I can hear them clunking where they are separated but won't actually separate. I also tried the BFH, I placed a piece of 2x4 on the side of the cylinder head, gave a it several good whacks and it was a no go.

I'm also 110% sure there is no more bolts. There is also no more gasket because I shoved a thin spatula in between and removed all the old gasket.

BFH takes care of all problems, especially if its out of the car, you get the most leverage.

Some pics, not the best but you can see how the parts are separated but not actually separated....if that made any sense. The parts separate much more than I was able to capture in the pics.

Remove that last stud so the manifold can move in any direction it wants.

Then whack the manifold with a huge rubber mallet, that should work.

Hmmm, I'll try to remove the remaining stud on the cylinder head. Then give it a go with the BFH.

Thanks!

try cracking the manifold apart and then wigglin it. if that don't work get the hammer!!!! and not just a rubber one, get a 5lb sledge. besides, it's not like you weren't gonna get new parts neway.
