ok, heres the problem....cylinder 3 misfire...

step one: replaced spark plug, needed one anyways result: still have cylinder 3 misfire

step two: checked fuel injector by ohming it result: 11 ohms which is good

step three: listened for fuel injector clicking w/ stethescope result: could here the clicking so i know the fuel injector is working

step four: checked for spark at cylinder three result: no spark

step five: swapped cylinder 3 coil pack w/ known good coil pack result: still have cylinder 3 misfire

step six: swapped coil wiring harness w/ known good harness result: still have cylinder 3 misfire!

step seven: ohmed the original cylinder 3 coil pack just for ****s result: 122 ohm, which means that there is continuity

so after covering all my bases, i still have a cylinder 3 misfire....what else can i do?! have i missed something?

Did you check for spark after you replaced those parts? Have you swapped ECU's?

ok.....went back out to the car...noticed that when i swapped ecu's i didnt have the cyl. 3 coil pack connected..so i connected the coil pack and put the other ecu in.....no misfire....**** i need a new ecu right? wrong...i was moving the ecu around and when i moved it a certain way it would misfire again...move it back, no misfire....there is a pin loose in the ecu..problem solved..somewhat....on my ecu i didnt have the clear plastic cover that goes over the wires, so i fished around and found one, i put the original ecu back on, started the car and no misfire.

conclusion: loose pin in ecu temp. fix: put plastic cover on ecu plug to keep all wires in place for now long term fix: ill be ordering a brand new wiring harness from courtesyparts so i know my wiring is good
