ok i have found out why ,y car wont run!! only 1+3 are firing 2+4 have nothing i used the test light to make sure all of the coil packs were getting juice and all was fine there ! so now i need to know why they are not sparking!?!?!? i thought maybe the packs on 2+4 were bad so i swapped them out with 1+3 and still nothin !they arent sparking at all i could put my hand on them and didnt feel a hint of a spark! and yes i had them grounded good.. what could be the problem????

How are you checking to make sure everything's getting juice? Possibly bad ignitor(if your method wasn't the proper one), possibly a bad ground at the back of the coil pack harness, or bad plugs on 2 and 4 although that's pretty strange and would be quite the coincidence if they were. Keep us updated on it eh?

i would double check to make sure that your wiring for the ignitor is correct (in case you lengthened the harness to mount the ignitor on the driver side). The only other thing I can suggest is to try a different ECU (you'll have to find someone willing to let you borrow theirs). The ECU may be bad and not telling the ignitor to fire those cylinders. The last option I can tell you right now is to pull the CAS cover and see if the disk with all the holes punched in it has been borked.

well to check for juice i used a test light ,since i didnt have a voltage meter on hand . are you saying i could have a bad igniter chip?would that make only 2 cylinders fire? is the ground you are speaking of come out at the back of the engind where the plugs come out for the coil packs? if thats the one your talking about .when i 1st tried to start the car it had sparks jumpin from it(the ground wire) but since then ive gounded it to the head and to the firewall and still its all the same! so what should i do next ?get new chip?

Well, since cylinders 2&4 are wired on the same set, as are 1&3, I would check the wiring for those two cylinders. Maybe you have the wiring mixed up. Check the connector on the coilpack and it will tell you which side is + and which is -, make sure your wires are the same.

i dont think the wires on the coil pack's are messed up becouse it doesnt look like theyve been touched ,and i never touched them either, but i will double check them. i didnt mount the ignitor chip on the dricers side its on the pass. side shock tower ,i just extended the MAFS to the other side . il check the CAS. if i cant find anyone who will let me borrow thiers how much should i be lookin to spend if i have to get another 1?

CAS isn't a cheap piece. I would call up courtesy parts or heavy throttle and see how much they'll quote you for one.

I would almost bet that it's either a wiring issue or the ignitor chip. I've seen the chips just go out enough that one or two cylinders would fall out, and since you didn't have the ground connected for the coil packs originally, it's a possibility something got shorted.

I've seen the problem before with a #63, and it was fixed by replacing with a #62 ECU.

if i had a day off this weekend, i would drive up there and help you trouble shoot it. Reston is only 3 1/2 hours from where I live and my best friend lives there now. But working 2 jobs means I have no free time -_-
