Hi, This is my 1st post. I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima w 122,500 miles on it. I see that the transmission warranty was extended to 120k. My car was making an awful whining noise and would not accelerate past about 5 miles. Then it wouldn't accelerate at all. I had it towed to my mechanic who said my car needs a new transmission. I'm having my car towed to a Nissan dealer for a diagnosis and trying to get a goodwill warranty on it. I called Nissan consumer affairs and have a rep who said Nissan needs to look at my car before they can do anything. What do you think the chances are of Nissan covering a new transmission?

Did you buy it from the dealership you took it to?

I'd say your odds are 50 to 50.

More interesting than the odds would be the real life result. Please post back and let us know what they did or did not do for you, if they met you halfway, etc.

Good luck! :)

have the same issue, and i think that with all that i have read, Nissan should correct all CVT issues, until they and the transmission vendor make the needed corrections. Who has an extra 3grand laying around to put a new trans in. I know i dont and have been without a car now for 3 weeks. this is my third Maxima and have been buying nissan most all my life, but feel that this could end up being my last.

So, are you just over your warranty mileage also? Where did you take your car in to?

What became of this matter? In most cases, NCA will not provide any assistance when a car exceeds it's Nissan warranty period.

The key here might be proving that the trans had problems before the 120K mark. Then you might have a fair chance. If you never took the car in for any kind of trans work or repairs and then one day after 122K it just stopped working sadly you are probably out of luck. Hopefully, you can prove it started having problems befoe the warranty period ended and can prove the repairs where mis-diagnosed.
