Thats b/c the CVT will NEVER shift...I'm going to go out on a limb and say you have an auto vs. the CVT.

The auto trans requires fluid changes at every 30,000 miles. CVT has a computer to tell you when to change it. It should turn on the MIL light.

on the trans dip stick, it marks ns2 fluid only, which is a cvt transmission fluid, thats how i know its a cvt

after doing some research, it look like i have a auto transmission and not a cvt as i thought first, but i want to find out what could cause the first gear to take longer than normal to change

how many miles on the car? if over 30,000, has the transmission fluid been changed? Worn fluid will make the transmission run a little odd because the transmission shifts based on a fluid pressure reading. if the fluid has been broken down by age and use, it will affect the shifting. You may be only noticing 1st gear, but all gears are probably a little affected.

i was advised to change the tran, because the first gear drag longer than normal to go into second and second gear slips into third, when driving the car hard the gears changes normal, but if u driving normal u get the problems, so its best i just change the tran and done worrying about it
