I took a trip that was about 2 almost 300 miles totaling 4 hours. my average speed was probably around 95-110 mph. I'd sit at about 100-110 for an hour at a time and when coming down to normal speeds the cvt wouldn't "drop gears" it would just sit in 6th. Tried the useless "manual" change still nothing. The only time it would act normal after that is if I would come to a complete stop. It's been about a month since then and haven't had the problem since. My guess is that the cvt just got too hot? P.s. trying to pass in a single lane with a 6 second gap realizing you can't downshift is scary.

How many miles does the CVT have on it? If your car is still under powertrain warranty, take it to the dealership ASAP, to have the codes reads. The problem could be due to several factors. You should also have your CVT serviced or any TSB that may affect your model year.
