Hey everyone - I'm heavily considering to buy a 2013/2014 Pathfinder - have a few questions.

I regularly tow a 4000lb load - What's the scoop with towing - I've read some issues with the CVT as of late.

Also - What version is better? FWD or AWD? I'm thinking FWD - removing extra load/losses from no transfer case etc...in the driveline.

Thanks in advance,

I believe the new Pathfinder is rated for 5000lb towing capacity with either the FWD or AWD configurations. There has already been one recall for the CVT (see this thread) but that does not relate directly to the CVT itself but for its cooler lines. I'm afraid I don't know of anybody's direct experiences with towing using the new Pathfinder; you may have better luck checking out the JX35 / QX60 subforum since there are very few new Pathfinder owners around here just yet.

Thanks - I'll keep searching/looking and drop in the other subforum as you mention.

The New Pathfinder money-wise, and performance on paper is quite good....just trying to learn a bit more to validate some thoughts of getting one.

Are you towing a boat trailer? If so you want AWD. On a steep slope (e.g, launch ramp), weight will transfer
off your front wheels, reducing traction. And Compound low 4x4 is great for backing up a trailer. Everything
happens in slow motion.

no boats - I tow a race/track car on a 18ft aluminum trailer...I'm really intrigued with the thought of just FWD...I will keep my Truck, but if I could "occassionally..or more often" use the Pathfinder for certain trips..that would be my goal
