Alright, so maybe I just suck at looking up answers but I've tried for weeks with no close scenarios to mine, and the best answer I've found was in a fortune cookie saying to trust my gut :ohno:

08 a/c 3.5 cvt 140k.. bye bye warranty

I'll narrow the story down..
Took a long trip one day, 300 miles or so, acted fine. Next dad, starts up fine, drives 10 min. Then at a stop light I try to take off and acts like it's in neutral for a couple seconds, then grabs, shakes then accelerates from 0-10 in like 20 seconds then gains power again, but will shift up/down erratically sometimes. I take it to nissan (again, no warranty but I wanna see what they say), they charge me , and simply say it's the transmission :bs: I ask how they got to that conclusion and they give no real answer. Couple days later, it drives like a dream, no problems for hours, then it does that stuff again.
I think it's either tcm (connections, itself, etc.), or solenoids. It just acts like it goes brain dead sometimes, not knowing what gear it's in, how to go in gear, but it does work fine sometimes and always works every morning when i drive it for 10 mins. min. so I disagree with the failed cvt still. Any thoughts? Experience with this problem?

I just had a similar issue, but it was the alternator and will be easy to tell. If you get brake and battery lights, the alternator is acting up. Mine wouldn't rev and acted weird unless it was in neutral. Put it back in D, it would pick up a little, then die out again. I would also lose power steering and the brake would seize. You can try having your alternator checked for free at a parts store to rule it out, otherwise, it might be the transmission (my condolences).

Thanks for the reply, but I think it might be slightly different..
No brake light, and no battery light.

What I got instead was a low tire pressure light, and an ses light with a few codes, I work at O'Reillys so, scanned the codes myself, looked at most common fixes and all that good stuff, but here's what I got.

P0746 PC solenoid
P1700 cvt con trollen unit function
P0746 PC solenoid A
P0826 up/down shift switch
P0868 fluid pressure low (transmission)
P1707 TCM !!!!!

here's a full list. I went ahead and looked a bit more into the codes like the usual solutions for each code. Would anyone possibly think a crank sensor could cause the symptoms I'm having?

The problem could due to a multitude of things that are beyond the codes. In many causes the dealer can address all the codes, and you will continue to experience CVT problems. If you're CVT/car is still under warranty, many dealers will simply replace the CVT with a Nissan re-manufactured CVT, in hopes of resolving the problems.

I am having my CVT replaced this week, due to intermittent issues that occured after having my CVT fluid serviced. :tisk:

Sorry to hear about your trouble. These CVTs really are a pain when they act up. I found a 5spd manual with 60k on it for $450 so I'm highly considering just swapping it out. But thanks for replying
