CVT Sounds and rattling in cabin
Hello all. Im new to the forums and need some advice/ help. Just got my first newish used car a 2011 sentra sl. Before the sentra i drove an 89 supra. Im use to autos and standard. Ive had the sentra for 6 months now. 2 months earlier the sentra started making a clunky grinding sound.Sounds kind of like putting a card or bottle on your bicycle wheel to make the sound only much louder. Only makes the sounds when i accel. Either a soft touch to the gas pedal or medium to hard it makes the sound. After about 40 to 50 mph the sound goes away. I think its the transmission. I always give it 10 or more minutes to warm up before driving. I put my ear to the center of the dash under the shift lever and the sounds comes from there. Sometimes can be felt around the whole car. Engine sounds great. Seems a bit sluggish though. So if its the cvt casuing the noise what sort of sounds would you guys say are normal? Idk if it matters but when i put it in reverse and accel there are no sounds at all just smooth driving. Has 35505 miles, the cvt fluid and oil was changed at the dealer at 32301. And please be gentle! I checked the forums here and on the internet and nothing seems to come close to my problem. Remember its a clunky grinding noise with slight vibrations. Im going to my nissan dealer on tuesday for a check do you guys know if they charge just to look at your car? I mean literally you can hop in the front seat put it in drive feel and hear the noise. Basic warranty is up i know but the drivetrain warranty is 5 years. Any help is greatly appreciated.
