Had it happen today...reversed out of a parking spot, put in drive, hit gas...drove a few feet, felt the trans slip, not hiccup, but a lurch, and then everything was fine...no episodes on drive home or manuevering around in the drive/garage. Should I be worried? I am driving 10 hours round trip to Dover this weekend and kinda don't want the CVT to **** the bed.

Not sure what it is either. I noticed similar "lurch" when slowing down and than accelerate slowly. Not all the time, but it does happen on occassion.

It could be the CVT gets a bit confused selecting ratios, or the torque converter. Either way, it doesn't sound like a big issue esp. if it drives fine the rest of the time.

CVT on my wifes old 05 Murano (and her new 09 Mo, and my 08 Rogue) probably work the same way....in order to avoid destroying the CVT belt, the computer will not allow you to go from Reverse to Drive without coming to a complete stop.

I tried it once in the 05 Mo, and the engine refused to throttle up for some time.

I may have been rolling when I shifted (MY car is a stick). Drove over 500 miles this weekend 90%hwy, got 27.6 MPG calculated 27.8 on Rogue computer. Front tires throw mud pretty good while turning, driving through muddy camp grounds...but mud only hits the mirror...

I have done this twice by accident in my Rogue and believe you me it DOES let you do it. I jerked my neck around both times popping the thing into drive while still rolling backwards in reverse. I used to do this on my Dodge truck and I think I really mangled the transmission. Was partly why I got a new car at all. Traded in my truck for the Rogue 'cause repair costs were ridiculous............ Moral of the story, just DON'T DO IT.
