That doesn't sound normal to me, I'm not sure I can completely picture what you mean by "slippage", but basically the CVT shouldn't feel any different than a conventional transmission when you shift to D, R, P etc.. It should feel just like any other transmission and only once you get going and the CVT fails to shift do you really notice a difference from conventional transmission's, but basically if something feels odd as you describe when shifting there has to be a problem. Your dealer is completely full of crap telling you that the transmission will be unresponsive at low speeds because it has to "build up pressure", that is insane. Just talk to any number of CVT owners like myself and they'll all tell you that the CVT should feel completely normal and you've got a problem. I'd recommend taking it back in a week or so and be very persistent that the CVT has a problem and it needs to be fixed.
