Ok this may sound really stupid, but i was just curious whether or not the CVT could be upgraded in any way.
Not like i'm going to do it or anything, but was just curious.

If you boosted your Altima or something that big, upgrade clutch and belt(Not sure about belt). You could also do something to the ECU to make the gear ratio higher all the time.
Good luck.

like do you know what kind of belts would work? i've looked everywhere just to get an idea in case i wanted to turbo my car. I know there's a transmission cooler, but i feel like its just not enough. there has to be a better way to protect the transmission from further harm.

The transmission itself is not that upgradable. SFR offers an upgraded one for around $5-$6k I believe which comes with an upgraded Torque Converter.

But if I were you then I'd suggest looking at an MT couple instead. Less head aches.

I wanted one, but there were none availiable in Black with the 3.5L in my region. I would have had to order it from Nissan that way, and I already paid too much...but these CVT's are supposed to be pretty tough...they are leaps and bounds better than a traditional Automatic at least, and less power loss too.

Hmm, the less power loss is debatable. In theory a CVT should be the fastest car on the road but the computer really limits what it can do for it doesn't want to damage itself. In my personal opinion I'd stay away from any attempted upgrades. Leave R&D to Nissan and see if they come out with anything better in the future.
