i disagree slightly, the auto down shift is not needed when driving a stick you have a clutch to essentially stop the car for you while you shift, in the CVT when you down shift the car gets a higher rev and can pick up speed so i would say the auto down shift is not laziness or inexperience it's more a necessity :-).dragon17 wrote:CVT is not manual. You just shift-up while driving normally and can down-shift as well. For the lazy (and inexperienced) driver, the car down-shifts on its own.
Do you mean you can drive it around in manual-shift mode without shifting, and it will shift like a normal geared automatic? or will it rev up high before it shifts? Because I've driven CVT ATV's before, and I don't like how they seem to stay revved up all the time, so I'd like that feature I think.altima coupe wrote:No you don't. If you forget to shift, the gear will be shifted for you as well, so it behaves like a 6 speed automatic.
I've been driving a 5 speed manual for 6 years... I test drove the CVT coupe and did not like the manual mode... it was NOWHERE NEAR the feeling of driving a true stick shift. I can't wait for my 6 speed coupe to arrive!slade337 wrote:Hey guys I'm a proud owner of an 08' Altima coupe 3.5 anyways noob question here.. i was wondering do i have to lift off the gas pedal when shifting in CVT's manual mode? thanks..
That's a pretty obvious statement. No 6spd auto can compare with a 'true' manual. That's why they call it manual. However, to each his own. Some simply prefer the convenience of an automatic transmission.ctrlaltcoupe wrote:
