Shifts to low and speedometer drops to 0.

Here is when:Outside temp is cold, below 30 farenheit anyway.Car temp is not yet at full operating temp, but the blue cold light is off.Climbing a hill (8 percent grade) at speeds between 25 and 30 miles per hour..

You can feel the transmission try to figure out which gear it should be in. It goes in and out of Overdrive/ high range to low range, back to high to overdrive. Does this a couple of times, then suddenly it shifts hard to low and the speedometer goes to zero.

It will not shift out of low range. It has done this twice. The 1st time I had to stop and turnoff the ignition switch. Restarted and all was good.

2nd time I was just able to come to a full stop. Did not shut the car off, just drove off, and all was good, until later when I tried to use the cruise control. Turned it on, the “cruise” light was on and the “set” light was flashing. Pulled over, shut the car off, restarted and it worked fine.

It’s the wife’s car, but it happened when I was driving it and she was a passenger. She said, “I guess I will have to take it in to have them look at it”. I said “good luck, they will tell you there is no problem, because we cannot duplicate the problem”

Well the wife was talking to the dealer today, asking if the passenger airbag cover part had come in yet, it was to be here November 17th, then December 10th, Guess what – No not shipped yet. So she tells them about the transmission issues, they told her on the phone. That it would do no good to bring it in, because they would not be able to duplicate the problem.

Dealer won’t even look at it. How are problems like this ever going to get reported to Nissan if dealers don’t even want to look at it or report the problem? The wife has had nothing but problems with the dealer, and is now reporting this issue and the dealer to Nissan. She is then taking the car to another dealer.

Just want to get the transmission not knowing where to go when warming up issue posted. That is all, Thanks all.

FWIW, leaving seven days a week at 6:20am, I've had lots of mornings starting out between 14 and 30 farenheit. I always keep at or below 2000rpm until the blue light goes out, which is about two or three minutes, enough time to get to the interstate. Hills on the way and on the highway, and almost all cruise on the highway, but I've never had any similar problems with my CVT.

As for the passenger air bag, my first one took five weeks to come in. They'll be ordering the next one on Saturday after they look at it to confirm it's doing the same thing...

I hope the new dealer treats you better and your complaints about the first get some notice.

Well, calling in and reporting the situation to Nissan would appear to be the best recourse at this moment. There is a more detailed discussion of contacting Nissan in a thread where people are discussing their dislikes of how the manual trans shifts.

I'm replying to the airbag cover comment. Mine took 8 weeks to come into the dealer. It was replaced this week, finally.

Screw Littleton Nissan. Go to Tynan and have them order the airbag for you. Tynans is far more reputable than Littleton.

Everyone in Denver...Avoid Littleton Nissan

No problem with my CVT even when it gets really cold.
