I have a 2007 Nissan sentra 2liter. When I changed the cvt oil at 90k miles I noticed only about 6 quarts came out. Th e book says the transmission holds 8 3/4 quarts of oil. So i guess the other 3 quarts must be in the torque converter. The oil was awfully dirty. Is there a way to remove the oil in the converter, so I dont leave 3 quarts of dirty oil in the transmission?

I know we couldn't hook up the flush machine to the CVT's...If you really want it out of there, I'd say fill the transmission back up, drive about 30 miles, and change again. This would be pretty expensive though.

*Edit* Did you check the fluid level before you changed it?

Actually when i filled the transmission up i forgot about the torque converter and put in 8 quarts which way overfilled transmission. So i then poured the old oil in original containers to take to the dump thats when I realised I had overfilled transmission and remembered the torque converter. So i drained off 3 quarts which put me pretty close to the full mark. I think I added 4 ounces after that. However when i drained the oil I wasnt happy to see how much dirty oil had come out. I will say that transmission is a whole lot quieter now. I plan on changing it again at 120k since it was so easy to do. Next oil change I will only buy 6 quarts instead of 12 thats all you need.
