Im new to this whole forum thing and I have a bunch of question that I have yet to found answers for. First thing I have a 2008 2.5 Nissan Altima Coupe CVT. I noticed the CVT bogs at the start and takes a good min to get going. Is there anything I could do to make that go away? I was also wondering if it would be worth it to change into manual instead of the CVT? I know I realize now I should have just spend the extra couple thousand and got a manual 3.5 but I was not thinking and I would have had to wait for 3 weeks to get it and I had money from just returning from Iraq and I wanted the car right then! Anyway I also want to spend around 8-10,000 dollars on it when I get back from Iraq this go around. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Im looking for speed for the most part as well as looks. Thanks for the help.

My first question is why didn't you get the 3.5?

If your "CVT bogs at the start and takes a good min to get going." you might have a problem. I have had no such experience with mine and find it very responsive and quick.

I assume you are not in manual mode with it stuck in a high gear.....

I regret not getting the 3.5 It seems like if im at a stop light, I take off and it seems to take a few second to get "up to speed" and this is happening when im in the manual mode

if you mean bogging down as in it doesnt go anywhere until 3000 rpms thats how the cvt works the torque converter switches over or something and it catches "gear" now if it feels like it slipping you might have a problem

If you are already really willing to spend 8-10k like you said then why don't you just trade in the 2.5 CVT for a 3.5 6MT??

i noticed that with my 2.5, i dont get the quick off the line jump either, but i always just thought that japanese cars were more top end speed oriented. i have an e30 325i also, i haven't pitted em against each other yet, but my driving expericnce in both cars tells me that the e30 would have the altima off the line and the altima would blow by when top end became a factor in the race
