When I shift my CVT manually, it doens't seem to reach the next "gear" immediately. the dashboard indicator tells me for instance that I moved from 1 to 2 to 3, etc., but the transmission (and engine) definately stay in the current "gear" until i get on the gas more. It's like shifting is throttle-dependent and not related to driver input. Maybe it's a feature to prevent owners from bogging the engine down in "gear 5" at 15 mph, but I have to stand on my gas to be able to rev through each "gear".

Also, when in manual mode, taking off from a stop is sluggish; the car seems to hesistate sometimes, but most often, it just starts out at a medium pace, regardless of throttle input, and then after a couple of seconds begins to really take off. It actually behaves just like a car with vehicle dynaics control that will reduce engine power to avoid loosing control, but my 2.5SL def doesn't have VDC. It basically seems to "CVT" in each gear while in manual mode. This is def. the bigger concern for me.

Does anyone else experience this? How responsive is your CVT when in manual mode? When I first got the car, it seemed to work like a clutchless manual transmission, now at 6K it's like the transmission is "pasty".

BTW- I know CVT has no gears (except reverse)!

CVT is like that. They tell you that it's like a manual in manual mode. but NOTHING is like a manual unless it's a manual. and to think the cvt is an extra 1000$ option in canada lol loool!

much rather buy a ps3 + xbox 360 with that extra cash lying around.

if you wanted to manually change gears you should have went after a 6mt because the manual mode on the cvt really serves no purpose as it takes away quickness and power.

Agreed ... if you really wanted a manual then that is what would have made you happy ... For me this time I decided to go automatic & chose the CVT.

I have not played too much with the "manual" mode on the CVT to give you any real sort of answer on what you are experiencing is normal or not.

I may play around with it this weekend....
