Problem came to life 5 months ago, vehicle reved up but felt like in high gear. Shut vehicle off waited restarted and drove fine. Changed fluid and filter vehicle had 170000 miles ran good no issue till 4 days ago. Vehicle would not go in gear, had it towed home dropped pan fluid a little dark but not burnt, ordered new valve body matched what was in vehicle news fluid and filter. Till this time no codes. Reassembled and started vehicle drove around block vehicle would not shift out of first. Did overall scan got a P0744 code one time cleared and checked all sensors. Now at point of not knowing which way to go, fluid level is correct nothing shorted to ground as far as Solenoids go am lost. Realize might be a mute point but still would like to figure out.

P0744 is a Torque Converter Lockup code, that shouldn't prevent the tranny from functioning. Did you load the IP Char data for the new VB into the TCM? Some will run with the old data still in the TCM, some won't.

When I read the title, can’t say I wasn’t surprised.

Usually need a new cvt at this time.

But have to say that’s a good final mile on an original oem cvt transmission. Anything more in miles is gravy. :dblthumb:

No other codes? If the trans is original its probably time for a rebuild.

Thank you for your responses. What are the IP Char Data? Where can I obtain them? Yes original CVT and I agree the mileage is gravy. Just trying to exhaust all avenues before giving up. Will not rebuild this will be end of line.

The IP Chars are the activation slopes for the various PWM-able solenoids in the Valve Body, the TCM needs that info to properly control fluid flow and pressure. The numbers are different for each VB. On your ride I believe the IP's are stored in EEPROM onboard the VB, but the TCM keeps its own copy and won't read-in any new data until the old data is erased. It's a 5 minute procedure at a dealership with a Consult3+, but very few regular scanners have support for it. Most tranny shops these days do have scanners which support it, so you may not be limited to a dealer visit.

Aargh. For some reason the TM section of the FSM seems to be missing for the '12's and '13's, but I'm about 99% certain the procedure for an '11 will be identical. See TM-9 here:
