What is the definitive cvt fluid change interval? Stealer says 100k but the transmission lasted 53k on the 2003 I bought (replaced under warranty). I now have 30K on new transmission.

I am thinking 50k miles - not 100k miles. So what do you guys think?

Thanks,Mike

The fluid change interval is actually supposed to be determined by a number that the handheld computer the dealership uses will generate based on readings from the vehicle. The next time you have the vehicle in, ask them to scan it for this number and determine if the fluid needs to be changed.

Personally, I would change it out at whatever interval you feel comfortable with, regardless of the number. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, the cvt fluid deterioration factor is 210000 w/c can be determined using consult , but , problem is, I've seen 100k miles & the factor is not even halfway, I would say 50k is safe to change cvt fluid, highly recommended.

Thanks for the info - I'll use the 50K interval so I can sleep at night.

On a related thought, I wonder if the new CVT they installed in your vehicle was identical to the original, or has it been re-designed? All of the current CVT's are much different and much improved over the 2003 design, so I wonder if they keep the old design around for replacements, or do they retrofit a newly designed CVT?
