let me break it down cause i got excited
RRM makes a transmission cooler for the cvt on the 2.5 they then placed a turbo on a 2.0 lancer and tracked it to see how it held up... they got good results
lancer cvt= altima cvt
this is good because the weakest link in our power-train is the transmission

that makes alot more sense lol

so a transmission cooler is all they added and the CVT held up to 210 hp?

they can't really dyno it so I guess they are just estimating based off track numbers?

that does sound interesting

If you do a search for "altima coupe transmission cooler" you'll come up with some info that could help you out on this. There are alot of kits out there that are "universal" kits that could be fitted to any car (provided you buy one and have enough room to install it. B&M supercoolers get used alot. Basically you need to find a location for one and then just modify how the piping for the fluids gets run to get the benefits.

If there are any turbo'd cvt readers reading this, please post up where your transmission cooler is placed please. Pics would be great.

Mine's in front of my intercooler. Hard to get pics of it since it's crammed in there but it does the job well!

Where did your intercooler get placed? Is it down low in the center of the car (where I've seen pictures of other ones), basically under the stock radiator? Did anything have to be removed from the front fascia to get air to it?

Yeah, it's in front of the radiator.

Nothing had to be removed from the fascia although the mud/splash guard did have to be removed from the bottom of the car up there.

the sst is on the evo not the normal lancer my girlfriend has a 2.4 lancer and the normal our cvt but with an updated software that pretends to shift in there DS mode(not manual it has that two) and functions like a normal cvt in drive but they got something that if its not on DS it doesnt redline.
anyways they people hooking up the coolers have seemed to have good results ranga just got it but he is a 3.5 so i dont know but the principle stays the same keep the temperature at stock levels nothing should break

it fits but with modification since it is a universal part but we i dont know if in the end torque failure will over come heat failure

This is very true. Those hard launches at a high PSI would be the killer.

I thought with our a/c cvt's it couldnt handle the power, over heating wasnt an issue...to a certain point?

It just depends upon the amount of power you're putting into it. Like any mechanical parts, the more you "expose" it to harsh conditions, the more quickly it will wear down. Those harsh conditions being heat, constantly flooring it, etc.

i have a 2009 maxima which only comes in a CVT and i have installed a HAYDEN TRANSMISSION COOLER to it i purchased from summit racing i installed the cooler when i had a little under 50,000 miles now i have a little over 120,000 with no CVT issues and the cooler was super easy to install.

all you really have to do is remove the return line (that goes back into the pump which in return goes back into the trans) and connect that line to the cooler then the exit line goes to the pump. i could supply a diagram for those who dont understand. you could also contact me on facebook my email is [email protected]

did the CVT originally go to the bottom of the radiator like traditional auto transmissions?
