I have to drop the engine &etc. in our 04 MO. 190K miles, main-seal leak, weird overheating (need to pull heads), not to mention that the CVT now fails to inspire confidence.
I'd like to upgrade the CVT, such as from a later model. I know there were lots of changes. My question is what would cross. I'm thinking of buying the front clip, so would have controller &etc.

Has anyone swapped in a later model used CVT? (Please don't drag me into a debate about borrowing trouble with used trans. I'm hip to that possibility.)

I'm NooB on this site, and I really tried to Search first.

Thanks.

Just in case you don't know, Nissan recently announced that you have a 10-year, 200,000 mile warranty on your CVT, retroactive for all purchases back to 2003 which would include you - no strings attached. If the CVT is acting up, there is a good chance you can get it replaced with a solid new unit, at no cost to you....for the roughly $5000 cost of a new CVT this is something worth checking on I think.

It looks like 120K, not 200K. And I think we'd get busted for not having maintenance records.
