I understand that many Versa owners here have installed CAI on their V. But I'm curious as how CAI perform on CVT? Has any body done that on their V with CVT? I am thinking about installing CAI and exhaust system on my V with CVT.

Thanks fo the input.

The CVT is designed for smoothness and (in theory) fuel economy. It is not designed to take serious power modifications like the manual is.

We honestly don't know how much power a CVT can take, so if you do so, do it at your own risk. Personally, I wouldn't reccommend it. The littler power mods like CAI and exhaust probably won't kill the transmission, but still...

I have a CVT with the Fujita CAI and it works great...

It's probably not the same unit , but the Maxima has 255HP and a CVT. I think It'll handle it just fine. After all, a CAI isn't like a shot of nitrous or anything.

CAI = Custom Air Intake has nothing to do with the transmission. It just supplies the air and air volume to the engine. The difference in power and torque if any from the regular system is so very minimal.

People already think I'm buring up a clutch in a manual when they hear my car accelerate from a stop. It would be even worse if it had a CAI. lol

No, the Altima/Maxima unit is NOT the same CVT that is in the Versa/Sentra. Theirs is significantly larger, burlier, and also has a manumatic mode. (it should also be noted that the Sentra SE-R's CVT is actually the Altima unit, not the base Sentra unit)

From what I understand of the (theoretical) operation of a CVT, if you start to give it more and more power without changing the TCU's programming to compensate, you're actually going to start losing some of the power you've just made through slippage near full throttle. And slipping is bad in ANY automatic, no matter what type.

Anyone out there done more than just a CAI and exhaust on their CVT?

True, but not for the hp or 2 the CAI would change if that and i would have to see it on a dino to believe it it adds more than that. My neighbor just installed a blower system on his Marauder, this kit came with all the necessary parts including electronics as this blower adds about 150 hp to the Marauder ( kit is nearly $9000.00) and over a weeks work every night after dinner. This guy earns a living maintaining fixing and boosting cop cars (yeah, for real) and presently no cop car around here could even come close to him as he is up too nearly 500 hp with all the modifications so far.

Now may be a blower system for the V + shave the head + the new cams, change the fuel system, completely new electronics, dualing exhausts, etc. it would be real mean. Calling all Yarisses !

Cop cars are not that fast I use to pull away from them all the time in my old car. and dual exhaust on a versa?...i dont know how that would look but i would just put bigger piping and run a dyno on both single and dual see what performs better. I rather put a twin exhaults on my versa
