Howdy,

First, I have a 2012 Rogue SL AWD, 61k miles.

I noticed a leak around the CVT pan, (and the engine mount was wet too). I haven't had a chance to wrench on it yet. This bad news bears or just a gasket ya think?

I put the pics here:

Interesting just how good that CVT fluid wicks on metal.
Suppose it has to be to get between the metal layers of the drive belt.

Pretty much everyone would tell you you should do a drain and fill by now anyways, might as well drop the pan and replace the gasket.

Your pan seems to show some damage on the edge away from all the seepage.. maybe a camera flash issue, or maybe something bounced up under there.

For what it's worth I'd take the time to add an external cooler while doing the work. I found that it made the difference in keeping the Rogue vs. having to bail out due to the on-going CVT issues that are so very well documented here.

oh that white spot is suspicious since you said something, I can't tell with pics, I'll have to look and feel it next time I get under there.

An external cooler? Can you provide a link? I'm not sure what you're talking about.

At 61k the fluid needs changing if it hasn’t already been done. If it has just tighten the bolts an 1/8 turn or so. Check in front of your radiator for a smaller radiator looking device about 10” x 12” or so if you find it that’s an auxiliary transmission cooler that is already installed. What’s the other leak that is making your motor mount wet?

Take a look at this thread. I posted my findings and the install of the cooler later in the thread:

Have you considered the possibility that it may be oil leaking out of your transmission mount, and not CVT fluid at all?

Hmmm this CVT/cooler job is gonna turn into quite the project I see. I got 9 qts of transmission fluid and stuff for differential fluid change too. Cost of liquid gold. Levels are staying good so I'll get to it when I get to it.

Garu35, yes and I was also afraid I had two leaks.

Also I don't know why my oil pan is painted orange. I'm the 2nd owner.

The transmission mount is rubber and steel. Not much to leak from it. Something above is weeping and it winds up at the low point, which happens to be the mount in this case.
