Here's a few pictures I had of the TR in the Gulf during a lightening storm from the CG 55 USS Leyte Gulf, Guided Missle Cruiser.

Here's a picture of my Watchteam. We were called the E-Team. (Estrogen) Since we had 75% of the watchstanders in the plant being female, it was fitting. But, it also helped that when ORSE rolled around, we were the team that had the highest grade for evolutions and casualty response. Yeah, we kicked ***. This deployment was way better than my first.

I didn't know where else to put this, so I put it in Politics. Just figured you guys would like to see some pictures of the ship. I might have some more that aren't that craptastic floating around. I'll dig 'em up.

Thank you. Something about these pictures just makes me feel good.

My son is an F-15 crew chief in the Air Force. Right now he's recovering from knee surgery but maybe I can get some pictures from the flight line when he gets back out there.

Your pictures are wonderful. Thanks for keeping our country free and safe. Somehow, when I see that type of storm, I think that the temperature must have been in the 90's and the humidity in the 90% range. ( I hope the ship is air conditioned!)

I think its probably the firewalls at work (Webwasher) that I can't see the pictures. I will have to check them out when I get home.

I remember as a kid everyone's dads going on deployment when we lived in VA Beach. At the time (from what I can remember) they had the JFK (CV-67), the IKE (CVN-69) and the Independence (CV-62). Of course my dad (US Arm) was stationed at Little Creek.

I remember when our neighbors on the JFK came back from a deployment they had these sharks that they caught off the bow of the ship. It was pretty interesting to see them in coolers. If you get any more pictures post them up!bud

Very, very cool.

One thing we can all agree on in this forum: We appreciate and honor our Armed Forces volunteers.

Godspeed, Sailor.

Yeah.. JR Haley, is my old CO from the TR.. I love that man.. I would do anything for him. He was an awesome captain. And, the TR is the most squared away ship in the fleet, so the GW is in for a surprise with Mr. Haley on board. I'm glad the CO/XO got fired.. I know their sins, and I'm glad they got punished.. but, I've already ranted about this in another thread, I think.

Here's some pictures of around the ship.. I went and took some.. plus, I got to see some good pals of mine that were on duty. I kinda miss being on board. *sob*

Here's the CoC of Carrier Air Wing 8:

Here's the CoC of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (which changes depending on where we are deployed):

Here's the Department Heads on board the TR:

Here's the Moose that TR shot and the story behind it:

Here's a picture of Hangar Bay 3:

Here's a picture of Hangar Bays 1 and 2 (you can't really see them very well since the lighting in 1 and 2 are a lot dimmer than in 3 and the area is so big):

The Hangar bays will be filled with all sorts of aircraft when on deployment, it's like a maze.

Here's a picture of the TR Seal with one of the painted pictures from the White House of TR himself:

Here's a picture of the Starboard Aft Galley Service Area with a nice JP5 pipe going through it:

Here's a picture of that same Aft Galley just part of the Mess area:

Here's another picture of that same Aft Galley, just with the scullery:

Here's the AFFF station #17 on the same Aft Galley:

Here's the Entrance to the Plant, #2 Plant Reactor Auxiliaries Room on the same Aft Galley (where I used to work, Yay!):

Here's the entrance to my Female Berthing:

Here's my old rack, Number 32:

Here's the Lounge in Berthing:

Here's a picture of the hull numbers from CVN 69 and LHD 7 from the flight deck:

And finally, here's a picture of the conning tower with the huge numbers of 7 and 1:

If you guys want any more pictures.. maybe daylight pictures.. I can do that, too. I don't mind at all. It gives me a chance to go back and visit with all my buddies on the ship that I left behind before they go back out on deployment.

Nice Boat!

I like the E-team's name. Are you anywhere in the pic? (I'm guessing the officer in the middle)

No, she's not the officer, she works for a living. We know who she is but won't tell - but - a search of the Nico site would answer that question.

It is easy ... look at the name tags.

Well I just thought she would be the officer since she seems to have been in duty for a good length of time.

I'm the one on the far right.. goofy hair odd smile.. dats me! That picture is 2 years old.. yay for time! And, the officers worked just as hard as the enlisted did, because you can't not work as a Nuke. Everybody has to pull their fair share.

I can imagine, one slip from a crew member and the whole thing could go. Must be a lot of over-sight involved.

I wouldn't be able to work on a ship for months. Boredom would kill me before anything else. How do you spend your time?

Okay, I gotta ask this. When you're at sea in a CVN, do you feel rough seas much at all? Or is it pretty smooth all the time?

I've got to give it to those guys who land a jet on the deck of a carrier in the middle of a rainstorm at midnight. That's skill.

When we're underway, there's usually so much going on that you don't even really notice the time go by. When you're on the deployment, the MWR and stuff has all sorts of activities like movies and p0ker night and dances and stuff like that to keep us entertained.

Very rarely do you actually feel the ship rock. You can feel it more and more the lower and the higher you go, but the closer you are to the water line, the less you feel it. When you're in really bad thunderstorms or doing high speed turns is when you will feel it, other than that, you will rarely feel the ship move. Although, when you walk off the ship and onto dry land, you walk in crooked lines because you're so used to walking on the ship when it's out to sea and having to compensate for the list. It's really funny to watch people walk off the ship like that.
