Hey all, so i'm contemplating lifting my truck. Have never done a suspension lift, only body. I've been catching up on what i need to do on the forums. Jimmyzzer and others have been great help. I think i've decided on the AC 2" lift, but the one small thing that concerns me is the CV joints and possible issues i've read about when getting a lift.
1. Is there anyone out there who's actually HAD their CV joints go bad on them because of a lift? I've read a lot of precautions, but no actual incidents.
My problem is, i've read i can get manual locking hubs and alleviate the spinning of the CV when i'm not in 4WD, but i live in a snow state and really would like the ability to switch to 4WD from inside the truck. BTW, I don't have the "auto 4WD", i have to shift mine into 4WD.
2. IF i left my orig auto hubs, how long do would you think i'd have before the CVs went bad? I've got 75K miles on it right now, drive about 12K a yr and go off roading about once a week. I mean, are we talking years, or months? (I know it's impossible to know a date, but general idea?)
3. Is there any way anyone knows about a way i can have manual hubs but still lock them from inside the cabin?
Any insight would be appreciated.
