How complex of a job is it to repair this? The OEM replacement kit that includes the clamps and grease is about $30, the dealer wants $140 to install it.

Does an alignment need to be done after this repair?

complex? yes time wise. but if you have a bit mechanical skill and tools you could do it and it doesn't required alignment...

i wouldnt bother with just the boots. if its torn, dirt got in. if dirt got in - its gonna wear and need a total replacement. just replace the whole shaft

It tore about 24 hours ago via a 1 mm x 20 mm cut. The dealer recommended just doing the boot since it is so recent. Its a messy job so I will just pay the $140 to have them install it and be done with it.
