So I lifted the patchy 2 inches and 2 weeks later both my cv boots ended up being ripped I replaced them now but is this a reoccurring problem because of the lift or just a coincidence? Thanks

The lift puts alot of stress on the cv joints and the angle they are at.

It is reccommended by people who have done the lift on our r50s to get manual locking hubs, that way the cv joints arent engaged when you are in normal 2wd driving.

The downside is, when you want to switch to 4wd, you have to get out of the car and turn the hubs, then it will engage, or you can leave them engaged, but then its just doing the same thing it was with the stock automatic ones.

It isnt all that bad, most of the year you only need 2wd, if its snowing out or something (i dont know where you live, so you may just keep them engaged when your wheeling), just leave them engaged for the day, cause you will be switching from 2wd-4wd alot or when your offroading.

Edit: by the way i think the hubs they get are made by a company called Warn and i think they cost around 100-150$ not sure.

Also the other reason they probably ripped within 2 weeks, is cause they were already years old and a bunch of mileage on them, already worn, then you put the extra stress with the lift and thats what caused it.

4x4parts.com has Warn hubs for 177.50 for the pair. They are great to have as they have more pros than cons. Its not a big deal to get out of your car a lock your hubs. They save a tremendous amount of strain on your front end, ie blowing boots. And Improves your gas mileage by 2-3mpg. Well worth it. Stick with Warn if you end up getting them..don't go with any off brands. The installs something you can do yourself, with little experience you can have them done in about 2-3hrs.

So my question is does the 4wd lever in the car become useless? And also will they fit with aftermarket rims and will the fit under the center cap. Sorry for all the q's i just really dont like the fact that i will loose the 4wheel on the fly because in 4wd its hard to park amd i use it alot in the snow and mud

You will still be using your 4wd selector for 4hi an 4low..that will never change. Your selector enguages your xfer case from 2wd to 4wd. It will fit with any aftermarket rim because your hub size never changes. Once the hubs are installed they basically become your caps, you don't put covers over them. You can always leave them locked if ur offroading alot. Basically they're already locked stock. All your doing is freeing them up.

Oh well that makes me kind of want to get them haha. But if i get wheel spacers could i fit the center cap over it? I think itl look a little odd to have them stick out.

The Warn hubs I mentioned go on 1990-2004 pathfinder models with either a 3.0L or 3.3L engine.

Spacers wont make a difference..why do you want to put spacers on it. You don't need them. Aside from a wider stance.

I have a 3.5 and i figure if i got spacers they would let the manual hub sit back letting me put the cap on. But idk if that will work.

I don't know if it'll go on the 3.5 honestly. You'll have to research Warn hubs for that info. I do know also you'll have to get a nut kit for it as well, for attaching the hub to the spindle. Theyre about 100-120bux for the kit, and it'll do both sides.

Ohh and you might be able to find them cheaper..again you'll have to look into that. But 4x4parts.com is pretty competitive, so its gonna be hard to find a cheaper price I think.

Lol and one more thing, did you get the camber allignment kit for your lift..if not, it "could be" another reason your blowing your boots.

1.) The lower the suspension, the more negative camber you will get. The higher the suspension, the more positive camber you'll get. A negative camber measurement means the tires are slanted inwards on top and outwards on the bottom of the tires. A positive camber indicates the wheels are bowed in the opposite position.

2.) The only way to check the angles of the tires properly is with an alignment. You also may feel pulling to one side when driving or notice uneven tire wear. A camber kit can fix the problems.

3.) This is a job for your alignment shop to do.

4.) You may not need a camber kit at all, but this info should help you determine if you do.
