I changed out my CV axles this weekend, noticed it was hard to get the driver side axle in, but I did get it in and nothing leaked. I drove it a bit and everything engaged, still no leaks of any kind. I came home today and found a leak from the driver side axle where it goes into the transmission. Is it possible I did not get it all the way in? Do I need to tap it in securly with a mallet? Or is there a special trick to getting it to fully seat?

BTW we were carefull not to damage the seal.

You may have torn the cv axle seal. They are very delicate and it is usually best to change them when changing the axles. It should have popped into place when you were putting it back together. You do have to use some force on them because of the c pin at the end of the axle.
