The thing is the casing on the cv axle stays in the transfers case it solid its locked in. The joints are coming out of the housing while the housing stays locked in the transfer caseVStar650CL wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:07 pmHas to be a missing or damaged retainer ring, or damage to the retainer groove in either the axle or transfer case. If it's a new axle, check the location of the groove against the original, some aftermarket axles come with several grooves to suit multiple applications and the ring may be in the wrong spot. When everything is healthy, an axle should palpably "click in" just like the pawl on an electrical connector.
On a new Axle damaged or missing?? This has happened to me 3 times now. I'm under the impression tht some type of mount is bad n making it sag n n rub on the right side.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 4:47 pmThere's a snap ring inside the assembly that limits travel of the tripod joint, it's probably damaged or missing:

axle is the right size. Made sure of tht. N from wht I'm seeing is some rubbing is going on n putting wear on the boot n the tripod ends up coming out of the housing bc the boot is all torn up. Could bad motor n transfer case mount cause tht again its an m45x thx for the helpVStar650CL wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 10:44 amIs it the correct axle? Those tripod joints can't come apart if the snap ring is in place, but if the axle is the wrong one and too short for the application then the car could be breaking it. Bad motor/tranny mounts could also cause that, but the tail would need to be wagging the dog pretty hard to get that much movement.
If it's letting the whole thing wag side-to-side under load, sure. Get out your big prybar and see what moves.Retr0 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 12:29 pmaxle is the right size. Made sure of tht.
