Just as the title says... So I bought new tires for the coupe after doing Scranton HIN. I went from 225/45/18s to 225/40/18s. The shop was able to take off the old ones and put on the new tires for the front rim but because my back rims are made differently, they had to literally cut off the tire to take it off. Has anyone run into this problem yet?

If the tires went on, the tires will come off. I think I'd be looking for a different shop...

Made differently? WTF? The rim on a wheel is the rim on a wheel - there's no difference - they all conform to a standard so that all tires can be mounted onto them...

I call

BS of course!

On a side note: Are you simply going w/ the new tire size for the lower profile look? Wouldn't this increase the gap in your wheel well..., and of course throw off your spedometer and such.

ok so it's just not me then. When they told me that they had to cut the tires I was like wtf too. the wheels are the same dimensions and offset. Anyway I did see the cut tires but I seriously think they were using POS equipment IMHO and could not take them off.

Yes, it is a lower profile, an inch lower to be exact and it did widen the gap in my wheelwell but not by a lot. I can notice it because I'm just OCD like that. My speedo is now off by 2mph so if I'm going 60 I'm really going 58mph
