Alright guys sorry if i reposted this??? Cuz i just wrote on up and then posted it but for w/e reason i dont see it on the forum...well anyways

I am looking at cutting my springs, i cant stand looking at my 4x4 240 anymore, and i am currently broke because i just painted my car etc. So i was wondering where i should cut my springs? wat coil, etc. I have about a 4" gap right now, probably a lil more. As for how much i wanna drop it, im not quite sure, recommendations would be great. Thanks guys!

I would put cement blocks in my car before I cut the springs. You're asking for trouble by doing something like that.

Cutting springs is like yelling black power at a KKK meeting, (couldn't think of anything better) your just asking for trouble. Not to mention hacking your springs will own the shot outta your shocks, so now you have worthless springs and worthless shocks. And for anyone that has ever driven on busted shocks, not a very safe feeling, mixed with cut springs. 4x4 sucks, but think, winter is coming, 4x4 kit is a must.

Eibach Sportlines, Tein S-techs, tokico blues, Illuminas, etc. etc.... These are not that expensive.

Don't let excuse cause you or your car in an accident because of poor "cut" springs. These are my advices to you, GL.

i had eibachs, they had the lowest drop, but the weakest rates... i'd go with RSR

Sportlines are as abusive to shocks as cut springs.

Haha, I have Sportlines and stock shocks, the bodyroll is crazy, I'm surprised the shocks aren't blown yet. How do I tell if I have blown shocks anyway?

Yeah, I moved it to the Suspension forum, seeing as it's suspension-related.

Edit: Ha, sorry! Didn't mean to move this one too, just lock it. It was just habit. =\

the struts are what kills you. look for a cheap set of used eibach pros like i did. higher spring rate than factory. I cut one coil off each, about a 2.5 inch drop total, and the spring rate is still higher than stock. but you have to have like some AGX adjustable to stiffen the rest of it up.

just be sure to use a cut off wheel, not a plasma cutter. heat and spring=bad news

I had GR-2's, i could tell it was blown because going over certain bumps, it would feel like the entire rear subframe was moving side to side and the car wasn't, as if it wasn't attached. Apon visual inspection, there was fluid grease and whatnot covered on the side that was blown, still silver on the unblown side. So, 4x4 kit early this year for me.

Cutting your springs is a bad idea. At least your not thinking about melting your springs. This guy I worked with did that and his springs looked like an abused slinky. I lost all respect for him as a car guy when I saw that.
