cutting a c belt

so have any of u ever cut ur a c belt? i was at hot import nights this weekend and this guy i was talking to told me to just straight cut my ac belt he says he gained like ten horses threw the whole power band is this true? and no negative drawbacks other than no ac wich i dont even use

though you don't ned to cut it, just take it out by loosening the tensioner, it should give you some power, but that is less than 10hp, i don't really think its a lot that you gain, but its usually a drag since you are moving another pulley.

I took mine out... but i'm going to get all the A/C crap out of my car.. I guess I noticed a difference? lol.. take your clutch fan off, and use an electric fan.. with that and your a/c gone, you'll feel a difference.

i'm not sure that spinning an unengaged fan clutch uses anymore than one crank horsepower. The largest gains in the AC area are the removal of about forty lbs, about a two horse equivalent.

gain number two comes from an underdrive crank pulley that doesnt even have all the extra mass associated with that extra pulley on the crank. They make that right? i'm not cool enough for a new pulley set yet...

Additionally it should be noted, at least on S13s, that even if the AC is on, when at WOT the clutch disengages. Nissan wanted to squeeze out all 165 horse of "fun." However, this is just a side AC note.
