car seems to cut out completely at boost. no leaks, timing dead on and very sure of it. I am a noob to the ca, but have been working with cars since i can remember. all is good at idle and low throttle but as soon as i try to kick it, all it does is backfire and seems as it almost cuts out completely. searched and came up with timing (verified), boost leaks(verified), injectors (also good), cas, and intake butterflies. it is a japanese motor and ecu. the car did run good at one time, bone stock with cheap ebay fmic and exhaust. i am going to check the butterflies and injectors tomorrow at lunch........anything else i might be missing. thanks

could be ignition related, bad plugs or weak coils. Boost overextends the problem and blows out the spark. Go back through the ignition system.

It sounds ignition related. Ignitors and bad coil packs are common problems.

Check the gap on your plugs, I use 0.7mm.

Why do you have them gapped down so far? On a stockish setup, the stock gap is fine.

I was having missfire at 14 psi on a GT28R (2560R) with Mitsubishi Evo intercooler and 3" turboback. This was with the gap at 0.8mm, 0.7mm fixed the problem. Anyway I think my coils are on the way out, but most probably all are, with 13+ year old coils.

Yea, I think you've got weak coils if you've got them gapped down that far. I've run that exact same setup with my SDS coils at 1.1mm gap w/o any problems.

ok, checked everything, even had a friend let me borrow 4 new coils and power transistor, no change. so performed leak down and head gasket blown at #1 on exhaust side. guess its time for a rebuild now. thanks for the help. will keep posted on progress, though it may take awhile seeing we are expecting another daughter in feb. thanks again
