I want to go with bigger rims, 22's and lower the car but not slam it. Just enough to eliminate the wheel gap without sacrificing ride quality too much. Also need to be able to clear speed bumps and get in my driveway.
What I've found thus far. There is a guy out there named "Da Mayor" who's M is freakin sick! Slammed with 20's and he changes rims every year it seems. I just don't want to slam the car and it seems you have to do that to get the car looking its best with 20's. I'm far from an expert and looking to learn so I hope I wasn't offensive with my comments.
On the Vossen site there is a black M with aero kit, 22's, and lowered; that is the look I want! What i need to know is how much has ride quality changed, ability to clear speed bumps and driveway, and what was used to lower his car springs or coilovers. Also curious about tire life with a staggered fitment, any camber adjustments or spacers needed/used.
Last question and this is the hard one for me to grasp. I would like to go with a higher tire wall than the recommended size for 22's but I was told the tire would not fit under that car with out modifying the car. Yet I see people on line with 24's on this car. How can you get a 24 on the car but I can't increase the tire size from 30 to 35?
Sorry the message is so long, tried to keep it short but there is so much info out there it is overwhelming. I just want my DD to look its best, ride comfortably on today's terrible roads, and clear my driveway and speed bumps. I'm also willing to pay more for quality as I do not want to be in the shop every year for maintenance on after market parts breaking themselves or being the reason for something else on the car breaking.
Da Mayor (Kenny) definitely has a sick car...but I personally don't know why you would go with 22's. You want to lower but not sacrifice ride quality...but, I hope you realize that with 22's you will have almost NO rubber on your wheels (aka rubber bands) and your ride WILL suffer. Low profile tires are not recommended if you are interested in ride quality.
My suggestion is lower the car 2" with BC Coilovers and get 20" wheels. Not to mention, that in my opinion, anything bigger than 20" is just straight up ghetto. No offense to the above poster, but those wheels are WAY too big for the car. Don't ruin the car.
Here is my car lowered 2" (I'm originally an AWD so even higher up than a non-AWD) with 19" wheels for reference:
