Everybody just gos with the factory plattform first to get a basic turbo set up and build from there yeah u can go and just start buying random parts and throw a turbo set together that might be good for a 300zx but u will have so many more complications in just trying to get it all to work at once instead of just getting supporting mods for a turbo system thats already working perfectly. Start from factory and go from there.

Many people chose to turbo the non-turbo block, it has higher compression, which makes it more responsive and generally more powerful, the side effect is you also need an intercooler then...

There's no difference between engines internally aside from pistons

Z32 is nothing like the Z31 and there are no direct interchange parts.

You should search the junk yards and find a complete Turbo car, then you can just get all the parts you need at one time. There were enough sold that there have to be some donor cars left out there somewhere.
check out this link, it has your shopping list and the how to. I have to say I thought about it many times but just too much work.

You don't NEED an intercooler to run stock boost. But you will probably want to run super unleaded rather than just the 87 the manual calls for.
