Hey I was looking on e-bay and saw a altima exhaust manifold for sale and was wondering if you think it could be modified to fit a turbo. Of course I would need an adaptor plate, which is no prob cause I have access to a cnc machine. Here are some pictures it looks do-able but am wondering about clearance of turbo.

The problem is if you do use that you can only use a turbo wit an internal wastegate. Becase the manifold it CAST IRON it is extreme hard to weld to sucessfully. It will weld but I garentee that the weld will crack very soon after you do it because the characteristic of the metal to hold a weld after it is cast. Unless you get a Flange to connect to the square plate at the bottom and exend to add a waste gate and then flange to the turbo. Either way I say you get what you pay for. A "BUDGET" turbo conversion never turns out in you budget when something goes bad..

You see the pipe thing coming out maybe the egr? or even the exhaust sensor hole can probably be tapped or filled to let me usean external wastegate? My main concern was the clearance of the turbo to the hood or even the strutbar if I mount turbo up, or is it even possible to have the turbo mounted down? This turbo project is to only hold me over till I get my rb25det setup complete and figured out.

It's not hard to weld a cast manifold. It just takes a long time. To properly weld it, you must heat the entire manifold up to a certain temperature, perform the weld, then let it cool slowly. I had mine welded nearly a year ago and absolutely no problems with it.
